Prince Kolgan
King of the Stonescale Kobolds, lately their exiled prince
Appearance
A small green kobold, slight even by the standards of his own kin. He crosses Otari bundled in a borrowed winter coat, on the reasonable theory that nobody looks twice at a short figure in a big coat.
Personality
Timid to the point of trembling and quick to expect the worst from surface dwellers, which the history of this town does little to discourage. Under the fear runs a stubborn seam of principle: he would rather be an exile than the prince who started a war.
Backstory
Second-born of the kobold royal line, Kolgan was cast out by his elder sister Queen Zolgran when he opposed her plan to raise a dragon beneath Otari and loose it on the surface. Their fight brought the Thirsty Alpaca down on top of them, and he has spent the time since hiding in the crawlspace beneath the ruins, driving off anyone who came near with an illusory haunting rather than risk being seen above ground. Finn talked him into coming back down to stand against his sister and give his people someone else to follow. On Gozran 30th he walked back into his sister's warren with the party at his back, and his people laid down their weapons at the sight of him. He nearly died several times in the duel that followed — Corpi, Shiro, and Finn kept him standing — and when Zolgran fell, the last of her guard knelt and hailed him king. His first decree ended the war: the Stonescales will hunt the dragon his sister raised. The party gave him the Queen's masquerade scarf, so the new king can walk Otari's streets wearing a human face rather than a borrowed coat.
