Aesephana Menhemes

The Huntress, Founder of Otari (Roseguard)

Appearance

Honored as a steadfast healer and archer, never seen without the Cloak of the Huntress — a mantle of mottled green and grey, said to be blessed by Erastil himself, that turned aside the weather, hid its wearer among leaf and stone, and could be removed by no hand but her own. Her holy symbol, a hunting bow formed of antlers, is still held by the Menhemes family.

Personality

Warm and devout, and by every account the Roseguard's true leader despite being its youngest member — the one the others looked to when the choice was hard. Those who knew her wrote of a quality in her presence that made frightened people brave. She was always more at home in a small town than a great city.

Backstory

Barely more than a girl when the company formed, Aesephana was the Roseguard's cleric and an archer of rare gift. She and Otari Ilvashti were betrothed, and exchanged vows only shortly before the party set out for Gauntlight — where he died. She survived all of her companions, settling into the town they built and dying in 4290 AR, the last of the Roseguard, mourned by all of Otari. The town was abandoned within four years, its archives were lost, and when it was resettled two generations later no one living could point to her grave. The party can: a sarcophagus in a profane vault beneath the Otari Fishery, locked by a holy symbol of Erastil. Her descendants, including Mayor Oseph Menhemes, remain the town's leading family, and she is honored each Founders' Day with Aesephana's Archery competition.
